New Year’s Resolutions
First, Happy New Year from my lovely home of St. Croix!
If you haven’t been to St. Croix lately, I highly encourage you to do so! My little island is exploding, but in a good way. We have taken the lemons that Hurricanes Irma and Maria created and turned them into lemonade. More businesses are opening. People are moving here. The island is seeing a rebirth that it hasn’t seen in a while. My friends with businesses are busy and people are seeing the beautiful place that St. Croix is to those of us that call it home.
My title was a bit misleading because I don’t believe in New Year’s Resolutions. For years, I did them but by February I was out of steam and just felt miserable and dejected. Now, as I gaze out at the Caribbean Sea, in January, from my back porch, with the trade winds blowing through my hair and my dog racing around the yard, I list gratitudes. My gratitudes list is long and it never disappoints. I’m so grateful for the gift that is St. Croix. I’m grateful for family and friends. I’m grateful for Island Contessa customers, who see my vision of casual elegance. I could go on, but you get the picture. Gratitude lists force you to acknowledge the good; even if some days it may be hard to find. And the truly remarkable thing about gratitude lists is that they give you focus. With all the negative noise that can fly around you, when you focus on gratitude, candidly, it’s hard to be negative.
I also want to share with you something else and that is that Island Contessa is on the move! We are looking to expand into the states, so we are currently looking for sales reps in the areas of Miami, FL, Dallas, TX, Atlanta, GA, and the Greater NY area. Sales experience preferred and if you’ve worked in the fashion industry, well, that would be AMAZING!!! Send your resume to islandcontessa@gmail.com and help us spread the gospel of island living!
