Saturday Brunch Skirt and The Helena–Traveling like royalty

Let’s be honest.  Even royalty needs to get off of their little Caribbean rock every once in a while.  So, the Mr. and I are traveling back to Kansas City (where we’re from originally) for some fun, family and friends.  When I travel, its a given, I get asked what I’m wearing and what pieces I’m taking with me from the collection.    Even though Island Contessa is resort wear, it is resort wear that is incredibly flexible.

In the picture above, you’ll see one of my favorite combos modeled by my lovely friend, Diana.  Now Diana looks perfectly at ease barefoot and on the beach in The Helena and the Saturday Brunch skirt but what I love about these pieces is the ease in which you can glam them up or even make them suitable for a more work-like setting.  Add a pair of nice pumps or kitten heel flats and its a whole new wardrobe.  Look at how different it looks on sweet Erin with killer heels! I have several pareos that I travel with for drafty planes and cold airports that you can wear a number of ways (see the video on our Facebook page) and with the right jewelry, you can get several events out of a couple of pieces of clothes.

One of the things that people always associate with royalty is lots and lots of suitcases but today’s royalty and especially Contessas understand that you can do more with less; if you have the right pieces.
