It takes a village!

This is a big week for me.  A lot of what I have been working on behind the scenes will start coming to fruition this week but only if I can continue to get support from family (and their friends) and friends (and their friends).  I have been so LUCKY to have made such great connections along the way that are turning Island Contessa into a world class brand.  I have never been prouder of the designs and the production of those designs.  The models and photographers I have worked with have all made the garments come to life….literally.  Now its time to let the broader world have a peek and the opportunity to shop.  One of the things that I have been profoundly committed to when I started this venture was to bring everything to a level that would make my supporters (that would be you) and the customers (also should be you) pleased to shop with confidence; whether, it is in a boutique or online.  We’re trying to do some very different things with the online shopping experience which means we are creating some things out of thin air.  To do that I have hired some very creative people.

​Here’s where you come in.  Starting Wednesday, you can be a part of the Island Contessa brand as we move to take Island Contessa Worldwide.  It’s my own crowdfunder event.  There are various levels of participation and with each one, I have tried to build out a special package for your support.  The link is on The Island Contessa Facebook page and it will be live on Wednesday, March 23rd.  Those of you that know me, know I go all in.  Island Contessa will be something that you will be proud to be a part of and I will be honored if you choose to participate in the event.

The title of this blog “it takes a village’ is taken from the Igbo and Yoruba (Nigerian) proverb that in full says, “it takes a whole village to raise a child”.  I’m borrowing the words and the spirit of that message to say, I need the help of my village.  With your support I can accomplish so much.

​That picture you see in the corner is my family.  My husband and my two daughters.  I can’t tell you what wonderful support and encouragement they have been.  You should all be so lucky to have these three wonderful individuals cheer you on.   It really is true, that you can do anything when you have a strong foundation and I’m blessed with that.  Now I am asking you to join me in growing Island Contessa out into the world!
