From Russia with Love
See this young woman? 20 years old. First trip overseas and I go to Russia. This is Russia when it was still part of the Soviet Union. Cold war stuff. The week before we got there was the first time Pepsi had been introduced. Fast forward and I’m a banking executive and traveling the world with my job and had several occasions to go back to Russia. Its now no longer part of the USSR (it doesn’t exist). The country is really opened up to tourists and so many things that Russians didn’t have access to back then, are now common place. On my last trip to Moscow, I had a chance to again go visit Red Square. What was different? Well for starters I wasn’t there in sub degree temperatures (there’s a reason I’m an Island Contessa and not a ski slope one). The country was less dour. Commercialism had really arrived and the lines between east and west were pretty significantly blurred. Why am I bringing this all up? Well I just shared my Russian experience with Pink Pangea (http://www.pinkpangea.com/2016/02/moscow-real-deal/) and I thought I’d share it with you too. After all, being an Island Contessa means that’s where I’m from; it doesn’t mean I don’t travel to other places. Even the Contessa has to leave her little rock every once in a while!
Enjoy,
Lori
