Finding Style
There are a great many shopping sites now that ask you a series of questions to help determine what your ‘style’ is in clothing. Boho? Classic? Preppy? They usually show you a series of pictures of clothing and ask you if you like them. I’ve always been bad at these type of tests because, inevitably, I know what answer they are looking for me to respond. The real problem is I like lots of styles. It depends on my mood; where I’m going and what’s in the closet! When you look at Island Contessa, you see classic resort wear but, especially with some of the newer pieces, you’ll see a bare shoulder here, a peek of skin there. We’ve got our standard prints and colors but also some newer patterns and, for the first time, we’re offering some of the designs in hemp–a fabulous fabric that breathes and wears well.
When you’re designing a clothing line you want it to be something that a lot of people will like but also something that makes the individual wearer feel special. Style is as much the attitude you display when wearing your clothes as the clothes themselves. What about you? How do you define your personal style?
